Mardi Gras is tomorrow in my hometown of New Orleans. It is both a celebration and a tradition filled with rituals.

Parades roll, riders throw beads and doubloons and hand out coconuts, bands march, king cakes are eaten, costumes are flaunted and kings and queens reign.

It is an escape from day to day living and celebrates a culture. People from all backgrounds and ages come to participate and play.

If a city can come together to celebrate itself and its people, what can your organization do?

  1. What is the spirit on your team?
  2. How do you celebrate accomplishments or milestones?
  3. What does your team do for fun or to escape?
  4. What rituals exist in your organization?
  5. Can anyone have a voice?

If the city makes time to close for a day to celebrate one of its most cherished rituals, perhaps your organization can make time to acknowledge itself and its people.

As we say in New Orleans, “Laissez les bon temps rouler”!!
