Could You Be an NBA Champ?

While I was disappointed that the Cleveland Cavaliers and hometown favorite, LeBron James, did not win the NBA National Championship, I have to admire Stephen Curry, the phenomenal three point shooter for the Golden State Warriors.

Curry had the highest plus/minus score on the court. This means that other teammates played better because he was on the court. The same can be said of LeBron’s teammates, even though they didn’t win the title.

Like the flu, our behavior is contagious. It can have a positive or negative impact. As a leader, what effect are you having on your team? What culture are you creating? We can call forth greatness in others when we model it.

There are many things we can do. We can elevate conversations. We can eliminate pettiness, negativity and gossip. We can also show up at our best each day, regardless of the circumstances.

In addition to work, consider your personal life. How are you impacting the family and friend relationships around you? Recognizing how supportive we are, how we foul others or how “busy” we are can help us increase our awareness and our ripple effect.

We can all play in the NBA. New Better Actions All we need do is work to increase our plus/minus score in the game of life.
