We are all in relationships, be they romantic or otherwise. With Valentine’s Day approaching it is a good time to review the relationship diet prescribed by the wife of Dr. Mehmet Oz, Lisa.

She describes both junk food and supplements which are like vitamins for a relationship. Junk food has three groups.

  1. Need to be right – enough said
  2. Blame and judgment – usually driven by need to be right or to look good
  3. Desire to control – this can cause others to disengage and also result in bossiness

We all need vitamins to supplement, give us balance and support our immune system. There are three vitamins in the relationship diet.

A – Appreciation

B – Being patient

C – Commitment to change

Without a commitment to change, the other vitamins are less effective and the junk food can become toxic.

Any diet requires exercise. Exercise your muscles of compassion and love. By doing so you will create a gift that lasts longer than flowers and a box of chocolates.
