Marketing experts know that the best place to position a product in a retail store is at eye level. It makes it easy for people to see, and, therefore, buy.

A writer friend of mine shared a variation on this theme with me recently. “Put your cookies on the bottom shelf,” she advised. Keep your message simple and direct so people will want to make a purchase or buy in.

Leaders frequently tell me that people do not know the vision or direction of the organization. Salespeople often say that they struggle creating an elevator speech.

When we put our cookies on the bottom shelf, people can reach them. The message is clear, direct and attainable. People can relate. They can take action that aligns with our goals and desires.

By being focused and accessible, chances are that your cookie won’t crumble!
