Yesterday while volunteering at a craft festival I had the joy of seeing entrepreneurship combine with passion to create sales. A group of inner city kids was selling artwork they had made and teaching people about their organization and their summer job program.

The key to their success was their enthusiasm, pride, talent and organizational system. Passer bys were drawn into their booth by curiosity and the colorful artwork.

Contrast this to the booth I wandered into later. The only person staffing it was on a personal cell phone call. He did not say hello, put the other person on hold or offer any assistance. In short, I was ignored and walked out.

Good customer service helps generate sales. By showing entrepreneurial enthusiasm and engaging others, we generate interest. These conversations lead to purchases. You do not need formal training. What is required is a passion for your product or service and a desire to communicate with others.
