After chipping up to the green recently, my golf coach gave me some good advice. “Follow through,” he said. “You can’t stop after you hit the ball.”

Being a good student, the next time I followed through toward the hole, the ball hit the pin and dropped in the cup for a birdie.

Follow through is not only the secret to golf. It is the key to life and success in business. When we do what we say, deliver on promises made, return phone calls or call people we meet at events or on airplanes, things begin to happen. Synchronicity occurs.

By being proactive, instead of reactive, we generate our lives. We increase our credibility, demonstrate responsibility and are in integrity with our word. We create trust.

Following through toward your target instead of stopping will get you to it much faster and with a lot fewer mistakes.
