I spent a wonderful weekend boating on Chesapeake Bay with some dear friends. We laughed, ate, drank, talked and got up and did it all again the next day.

As I sat on the boat’s deck overlooking the Bay with wind blowing through my hair, I felt calm and relaxed. You can’t help but be still. The outside pace and busyness of everyday life ceases. I felt like I had been gone a week after only one day.

The ability to be quiet and still is a necessary ingredient for busy lives. What do you do to get that “vacation feeling” everyday, especially in the summer? As adults we don’t get three months off like we did in school.

This week I invite you to give yourself some freedom in celebration of the upcoming 4th of July holiday. You may not be able to go boating, but you can choose one way to be quiet, calm and still everyday.
