Do you have a fantasy of a Norman Rockwell holiday? Are expectations stressing you out?

Ask yourself, “What do I want this holiday to be about? What is important to me?”

Perhaps you answered serving the perfect meal, (no dry turkey or burnt marshmallows) or having a spotless and clutter free house that passes the white glove test. I’m guessing you might have even been sentimental enough to say being with family and friends.

We get so caught up in being Martha Stewart or Emeril Lagasse, that we lose sight of what truly matters. When we do, we can become a victim or martyr in our story. We get resentful, irritated and stressed. When these feelings dominate, joy, fun and love disappear.

By definition, family is more than one person. It is not a solo structure. It can consist of relatives or friends we choose. I encourage you to let go of looking good or not looking bad and ask for their help.

You don’t have to do the entire holiday on your own.

By including others, letting go of expectation and being authentic, you’ll have the ingredients for the best Thanksgiving dinner ever.

Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful, loving and Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement throughout the year. As I continue to grow and stretch, it inspires me.
