How Can You Add by Subtracting?Science, technological and math skills are emphasized these days as the ticket to the future.

While calculus, algebra and statistics have their place, basic math concepts could be the future for your daily life.

Lao-tzu, the Chinese philosopher said, “To attain knowledge, add things every day. To attain wisdom, subtract things every day.”

Whenever I ask people how they are, the reply I get 90{160c7819af59c11da6532971d4da6329afa70521e09652cedd42dbad61fa4f29} of the time is “busy.” We are in that state because we keep adding things to our lives. From activities to gadgets and devices to TV show we have DVRed, there is a constant stream of more.

When we subtract things and focus on our priorities and what is truly essential, we gain clarity. Wisdom comes through simplifying. In addition, we gain momentum because our purpose is clear. We address what really matters.

What result would you like to increase exponentially? What is the value of this goal when it is realized? What activities can you cut by a fraction that are not supporting this outcome? When you know how to add and subtract wisely, you’ll be able to divide your busyness and multiply your effectiveness.

Happy 4th of July!!
