The record heat wave in parts of the country reminds us of the importance of energy efficiency. It is hot and we need to have ways for our systems to run as effectively as possible.

This concept applies to our appliances and air conditioners as well as our own internal systems. We cannot afford to burn out.

Here are three ways to manage your energy consumption.

  1.  Focus on what is working right. It is easy to get distracted by what is not working and to expend energy on the gaps; ignoring what is working. Shifting your focus will shift your energy.
  2.  Eliminate tolerationsClean up the nagging irritations in your life. Whether small things like changing a light bulb, or large, like having a difficult conversation, the sooner you remove it or take action, the more energy you will gain.
  3.  Get supportFocusing on who can assist and not just how you will do the project alone can increase energy. Delegating, partnering or hiring others to complete a project will likely increase your efficiency and raise your energy because you can focus on your strengths. A strong collaboration is energizing.

Work, like summer, can be tiring and exhausting. It can also be fun and exhilarating. Being personally energy efficient will add to your fulfillment and productivity when the heat is on.
