A friend of mine recently won $10,000 in a home improvement contest. Decorators provided new furniture and accessories to make over her living and dining rooms.

“The largest room in the world is the room for improvement,” I once saw on a church sign. I’d also add that it can be the most challenging to renovate.

This can be a hard room to change if we do not have mirrors in it. Unlike my friend who just picked what she wanted and had others install it, we must put in a bit more sweat equity.

It is up to us to be aware of our impact and how our choices affect both ourselves and others. We need to see clearly. Are we living in harmony with our needs, values and standards? What is causing stress in our lives?

We might need to de-clutter our room by eliminating things and relationships which no longer fit in. We can simplify our room by allowing space between activities and time for rejuvenation.

Just like my friend took the step to enter the contest, we too, can work on our room for improvement by taking action. What is one step you can take to move toward your vision?
