On Saturday I participated in a race for Girls on the Run. This organization stresses the importance of physical activity to teach 3rd-5th grade girls how to build self-esteem and confidence and handle situations such as bullying and gossip. Participants also learn the importance of goal setting.

During the 5K run, girls of different backgrounds and nationalities were striving for the same thing. With determination and encouragement from others everyone completed the race. Many girls had never run before the program started. It was wonderful to see the joy and pride they felt at crossing the finish line.

When we have goals, be they easy or stretch, having determination and support can help us accomplish them.

Knowing why we want the result will make the how more possible. And having outside support makes it easier when we feel like stopping. Slowing down may be appropriate at times as long as we are consistent in pacing and keeping our focus.

What are you determined to accomplish? Who will support you? What is your preparation plan to get there?

Remember to finish strong!
