“I don’t have time to have fun or get away. I’m too busy. My business will slow down.” These are comments I frequently hear from my clients.

These beliefs reflect feelings of control, fear and lack of trust. We don’t trust that business will flow or that it will all get done if we let up.

My response: “Do you have time not to take a break?” The long term consequences of running on adrenaline and unraveling like a quilt when a thread is pulled cost more to you and your business.

We all need a break to get away, unwind and reenergize. Creativity flows and we can actually work faster and more effectively when we are focused and present instead of longer and harder when we’re burnt out.

You don’t have to leave town to create an escape. You can cease checking email on weekends or at night; turn off your cell phone; stop wearing a watch when you play sports. Ironically, I have discovered that whenever I go away or do something fun in the middle of a work day, new business appears.

By believing in abundance and giving yourself permission to slow down you can take your foot off the accelerator. Projects may even take less time and you’ll likely attract new business. You will get a chance to rejuvenate and relax so you can be your best and most creative.

In this month of vacations, give yourself one!
