I went apple picking yesterday. It was a beautiful sunny day. There were many trees and families were having fun picking through them.

We found that while the low hanging fruit was easy to get, an abundance of riper fruit was higher in the tree. We had to stretch to pick it.

As in life, low hanging fruit can be satisfying and easy to get. However, some of the challenge and also fun, lies in stretching.

As we know, often the more difficult and challenging activities or experiences generate the greatest reward. Greater reward, like riper apples, frequently requires us to go beyond our comfort level.

  1. What is your low hanging fruit and what satisfaction does it give you?
  2. Where are you stretching yourself and your team?
  3. What rewards would be obtained?

Opportunities can exist at all levels. Determining where your juiciest and sweetest rewards lie can help you stretch.

P.S. We are having apple pie tonight, enjoying the fruits of our labor!
