Today is a day where we either get tricks or treats. People dress up, wear masks and the environment is frightening.
How scary is your office? Does Halloween come once a year or every day?
Are people afraid to talk about what’s going on because the environment is scary and unsafe? Do colleagues feel they are ignored or acknowledged for a job well done (adult candy)? How genuine are you? Do you hide behind a mask or do you share yourself and situations fully? Do people interact with same person or are you Jekyl and Hyde?
As children it was fun to dress up, be surprised and get spooked. As adults, most of us prefer to work with others who are authentic. We want to work in an environment of trust. We don’t want to feel scared or intimidated. We like to be acknowledged with treats.
