What Do You and Top Tennis Players Have in Common?Sports fans love this time of year. College and the NFL season have started, baseball is nearing the playoffs, golf is still in full swing and the US Open finals are just finishing.

Watching the Open is exciting as top ranked players compete for the championship. They must consistently and strategically hit the ball over the net in bounds more than their opponent. After a shot, responsibility shifts to the other player to return the ball.

A client recently told me that she had to stop seeing her overworked team members as victims. She had to stop fixing everything for them and give them an opportunity to be responsible. In essence, she had to return responsibility and volley back ownership to them.

By trying to fix everything, she was preventing them from stepping up and playing on the court. They had been on the sidelines allowing her to call all the shots.

Giving people an opportunity to return responsibility actually gives them a chance to win at their game.
