Many of you responded to last week’s tip on Pelotonia, the bicycle ride in Columbus, OH that has raised almost 12 million dollars in 2013 for cancer research. (See last week’s tip by clicking here).

As any rider knows, going up and down hills requires different gears. When we are going uphill we shift gears so it is easier to pedal. If we don’t, we have to work harder and we can get stuck. When we are going downhill we change in order to not pedal as fast and lose control.

Like bike riding, we need to be able to shift gears when circumstances demand. Flexibility is essential.

We can’t move forward if we do not re-calibrate our perspectives, processes or practices. If we are not adaptable, more effort is required, like going uphill without changing gears.

  1. Where are you exerting too much effort?
  2. How would increased flexibility make your work easier?
  3. What do you need to shift to make the ride more enjoyable?
