The line at BWI airport for Chipotle’s food is always longer than any other vendor. The CEO of Chipotle, one of the fastest growing food operators, attributes their success to three things:

  1. Techniques- These are the fundamentals of cooking and process.
  2. Ingredients- They use fresh ingredients and meats that come from animals fed and treated properly. “Food with integrity” is their motto.
  3. People- Their people are empowered and have the ability to do what needs to be done.

This TIP can be applied to all organizations.

Process is important. Regardless of how successful or complex things are, we need to remember the fundamentals and keep doing them well consistently. (Ask any athlete about this)!

Our ingredients are our values and character. What we put into the mix and its quality greatly impact the recipe.

Most of us function in a service economy these days. People are the engine behind the business. How your people feel, how they treat others and how they get the job done all affect the organization’s success.

Is your organization hot? How are the techniques, ingredients and people impacting your lines?
