“It’s my job,” the sales assistant at Staples said. He had just finished spending 15 minutes helping me cut and laminate cards. I thanked him and tried to tip him. He would not let me.

I was impressed at his level of service and humility. He was willing to take time and do the process with me. Additionally, he suggested a better method which saved me money. In short, he saved me time and money- two valuable commodities.

Helping someone with a small thing might not seem like a lot to you, and it can mean volumes to the other person. Looking for ways we can make someone’s life easier is important both in our business and personal lives.

When we view support as our job rather than resent the interruption, we can create strong interactions and a loyal following.
